Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020

Transworld Group supported Apne Aap Women's Collective - AAWC at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on 19th January 2020. Apne Aap Women’s Collective empowers women, young girls, and children in the red-light areas of Mumbai by providing them with education, healthcare outreach services, financial literacy, and skill development training enabling them to lead a better quality of life. A team of 15 runners from Transworld across categories of Half Marathon, 10k run and 5.9 km ran in solidarity with the cause and successfully completed their races.

8 Transworld volunteers also participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon as a ‘Buddy’ to 25 runners supported by Motivation India in the "Champions with Disability" category and in solidarity of the cause to make differently abled communities to be mobile, confident and independent.

 

Volunteering Programme with Apne Aap Women’s Collective 2020

As part of our support to Apne Aap Women’s Collective through the Tata Mumbai Marathon, we initiated a weekly volunteering programme with their beneficiaries from 18th January 2020 till 7th March 2020. Six enthusiastic volunteers have engaged over 25 girls in sessions on English & Communication, Art & Craft, Music lessons, Constitution of India as well and Fundamental Rights and Duties. The volunteers and beneficiaries formed a special bond during these engagements and the programme will be scaled up to provide annual support through knowledge sharing in various domains for the girls’ professional success.

 

Transworld Group invites Captain Sahar Rasti, Emirati Woman Captain in UAE on the International Women’s Day In 2019 Transworld Group initiated a social media campaign ‘Balance for Better’ to extend our commitment to a more gender-balanced world. In tandem with our focus on Gender Equity and Inclusion, Transworld Dubai invited the first Emirati woman Captain Sehar Rasti who earned a marine certification. Forums for showcasing the achievements of women in shipping industry are limited and Transworld Group Corporate Responsibility along with Human Capital Management team organized an experience sharing by Captain Rasti on the status of women in the industry, the challenges and opportunities to create visibility of the contributions made by women in this field.

 

Dubai Women’s Run 2018

Transworld Group Corporate Responsibility Team in Dubai facilitated participation of 10 women at Dubai Womens Run. The event was driven by the UAE Athletics Federation and supported by Dubai Sports Council, aiming at motivating and inspiring women. Transworld team joined hands to celebrate the spirit of womanhood on 16th November 2018 by participating in 5 km and 10 km run.

 

Support for Udaan Program – 2018

Gender equity and inclusion is one of the key areas for Corporate Responsibility at the Transworld Group. Post Women’s Day celebrations, the Company decided to donate to a cause that is not only weaved into the theme but also reaches out to those who are at high risk of HIV and AIDS. On 14th May, the Transworld CR team delivered 65 school uniforms for adolescent girls in the Udaan program. The objective of this donation was to set their lives on trajectory of hope, success and meaning. This donation was made possible by the kind support of the Transworld-ites who participated in the Women’s Day fund raising. The Udaan program empowers girls and aims at preventing the inter-generational cycle of the trade by helping the girls gain genuine socioeconomic mobility.
